• We hope you will be able to make it out to our PTO Family Movie Night this Thursday at 6pm! Bring a chair or blanket and snuggle up while enjoying pizza, popcorn, and a free movie that the whole family can enjoy. The featured film is Sing . While the children enjoy the movie, parents can visit with their child’s program level for our Curriculum Night. Learn about the academic program that your children will engage in this school year.

• DPS Annual Technology Fee Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, Durham Public Schools will implement this fee to help maintain, repair, and replace student devices, as well as support the digital resources that enhance teaching and learning. This fee ensures that students have access to reliable technology for instruction, assessments, and collaboration both in and out of the classroom. The Technology Fee is due at the start of the school year and can be paid online. Families experiencing financial hardship may qualify for a waiver or reduction. The fee is Grades K–5: $15.

Parent Update-August 6, 2025

Hello Little River Community!

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Little River School! We are just a few weeks away from the first day of school. The first day of school is Monday, August 25. 

Our Open House will be Thursday, August 21, 5pm-5:30pm for PK and kindergarten students and 5:30pm-6:30pm for first through fifth grade. With Open House you will meet your child’s assigned teacher, verify class schedules, and most importantly learn how you can join PTO!

Please also check our website for supply lists, to peruse our updated school handbook, and for PK and kindergarten students, to view our staggered entry plan for these grade levels. Our next school scheduled call will be Sunday, August 17 wherein you will learn your child’s teacher assignment. Please call into the school if you have questions!

See you soon at Open House. We look forward to the first day of school on Monday, August 25!
