DPS would like at least one parent representative from each school community to participate in one of the meetings. See the flyers below for more information.

• During Winter Break, continue to be diligent in following the 3Ws for preventing spread: Wear your masks when appropriate, Wait for space, and Wash your hands. Please be reminded of our school COVID protocols here.

• 

• Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) will be continuing this school year for students and families who qualify. It will not be calculated the same as it was last year.P-EBT is part of the U.S. government response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through P-EBT, eligible school children receive temporary emergency nutrition benefits loaded on EBT cards that are used to purchase food. Children who would have received free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Act if their schools were not closed or operating with reduced hours or attendance for at least 5 consecutive days are eligible to receive P-EBT benefits. Students will be reimbursed based on the individual attendance records with the attendance codes of 1D Quarantine and 1R Present Off-Site. The amount provided to each student every month will be determined by the number of 1D and 1R codes multiplied by $7.10 which is the rate. DPS will be pulling data from the start of the year to present to begin to make determinations in compliance with this program.

• OPERATION HOPE! As the winter approaches, Little River wants to BE PROACTIVE by helping our local homeless community. To BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND, we want to be able to provide undergarments and clothing to at least 100 people in need. We need to SYNERGIZE to make this possible. The only way it is going to work is if we do this together!! Think WIN-WIN – this gives you a chance to clean out your closet, and help those in desperate need.And most importantly, SHARPEN YOUR SAW by using your skills and talents to make this endeavor a success. Please, PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST, and do your part! Operation Hope is run by a team of Little River Staff to put the 7 Habits into Action- See this flyer for more information.

• School will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving break and will resume Monday. Please be safe and do enjoy Thanksgiving break, but please follow the 3Ws for preventing spread where appropriate: Wear your masks when appropriate, Wait for space, and Wash your hands. We want to be able to come back to school with as few interruptions as possible, to keep everyone safe and learning.

• Duke University is again offering an opportunity for students to see Duke Football over the holiday break. With Duke Students out of session for Thanksgiving, they are offering Little River students the opportunity to sit in the Duke Student Section for FREE during our game against Miami on Saturday, November 27th at 12:30pm. Families can claim up to 4 complimentary student tickets with each discounted paid adult ticket. To register visit www.GoDuke.com/BeAStudent.

• DPS will begin providing weekly COVID-19 testing on site at Little River the week of October 18 for registered participants. View a flowchart of how this weekly testing is designed to help identify potential COVID-19 cases more quickly and limit the potential spread of the virus. • The end of quarter 1 is approaching and report cards will soon follow. Be on alert for an invitation for your child’s teacher for a conference!
