News you can use!

  • Gas Odor Prompts Building Evacuation on the First Day of School On the afternoon of Monday, August 28, Little River was temporarily evacuated due to the smell of gas in a portion of the building. 911 was dispatched and shortly after, all staff and students were safely permitted to return to the building. Please reach out to Dr. Hogans if you have questions about this incident.

  • Attn Middle Grades Parents! The North Carolina School of Science & Mathematics (NCSSM) is hosting Virtual STEM Nights for 7th and 8th graders. These events are hosted by the Division of Extended Learning. Learn more and register here.

  • An Invitation from PTO The PTO is planning a Popsicles on the Playground event for August 27th, 2pm, at the school.  We are opening it to families of kinder through 2nd grade and new families. Come join us!

  • For K-8 students, watch this video to learn how to navigate the car rider lane beginning on the first day of school!

  • SCIENCE OF READING OVERVIEW Interested to know how North Carolina teaches reading to students? Interested to know how you can support your child’s reading ability? The DPS Office of Early Learning has developed, "Partnering with Families and Caregivers: The Science of Reading to help overview and answer these questions! 

  • DPS School Safety, Security, and Emergency Information Guide for Parents/Families DPS Safety/Security has created a school guide to provide parents and families with school safety, security, and other emergency information. Please review this guide to be informed of protocols for the upcoming school year. School guides can be found here.
