Student Assignment Update Families with students in our general education program in grades PK through second grade are likely to receive a phone call from the school regarding the upcoming changes in student assignment to take place in 2024-2025. The PTO BOOK FAIR is now open daily from 7:30am - 3:00pm. See the flyers sent home last week. With Book Fair there comes our annual TEACH OR TREAT and HAUNTED BOOK FAIR this Thursday, 5pm-7pm. Students are encouraged to dress up in costume and answer questions from staff for treats. This fun event provides a great opportunity for parents to shop the book fair as well!

A message for our middle school families: The City of Durham invites DPS students who are 13 years of age or older to participate in Participatory Budgeting (PB), regarding city projects benefiting youth. Access the Participatory Budgeting links below. Student participation is optional. Students will be able to participate through October 31, 2023, and may only vote once. Students will be able to participate through October 31.

For parents of elementary students, in the coming days, you will receive a letter in the mail from DPS with important information about elementary student assignment changes that will take effect next school year. The letter was referenced in the Little River Sunday Message on October 8. You can register online at dpsnc.net/possibilities. (Click ‘Important Dates.’ Scroll past ‘SEE MORE IMPORTANT DATES’ to see dates for other informational meetings.
STEM NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM OF LIFE + SCIENCE On October 19th, DPS will partner with the Museum of Life + Science to host a STEM Night at the museum (433 W Murray Ave, Durham NC 27704) from 5:30 p.m. - 7: 30 p.m.). The event will include STEM activities, access to the Butterfly House, the Dino Trail, a Scavenger Hunt, Crafts, and Free Train Rides! Dinner will also be provided! Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Register here.
