September 7

Hello to the week Little River School Community!

Teachers have shared dates for their upcoming
curriculum nights. Please note and come see what
your child will learn this year. Check our school
calendar for days and times for your child’s program.
Thank you for those of you who attended Curriculum
Night for second and third grade last week.

The School Improvement-Leadership Team will
meet at 5pm tomorrow. The PTO will meet at 6pm.
All are welcome to attend!

Also, we will sponsor a Back-to-School Dance next
Friday! See our calendar for grade level times!

This week third graders will take the Beginning of
Third Grade Reading test as a part of Read to Achieve.
To ensure that every student reads at or above grade
level by the end of third grade and continue to progress
in rigorous reading proficiency, the NC General Assembly
enacted in 2012 the READ to ACHIEVE--or RtA-- law.
The law requires that kindergarten, first, second and
third grade students take baseline and benchmark tests
to keep tabs on their progress leading up to through the
third grade EOG.

Congratulations to our Little River students who made the
Lucas fall athletic teams. We look forward to a great season
for the Leopards!

For those families that use our car rider lane, please be sure
you have updated your number tag for this school year.
Last year’s numbers are no longer valid.
Have a great week of school! And remember to walk the
river way every day in Beaver Nation: to learn respect and
shine!
Kindly,

Dr. C. Hogans
